Track officials are hoping the third time will turn out to be the charm Saturday night for getting the auto racing season underway at Missouri’s I-35 Speedway.
The weather foiled a second attempt Sunday afternoon to stage an United States Modified Touring Series race on the three-eighths-mile dirt oval.
Track promoter Larry Kaster said the event will be rescheduled as a Sunday afternoon race and that date will be announced in the near future. Ticket stubs and pit passes from the USMTS event will be honored for that event and any questions should be directed to USMTS director Todd Staley at 1-515-832-6321.
The Saturday night weekly program, meanwhile, consists of IMCA modifieds, chargers, 750cc modifieds, street stocks and pickup trucks. Gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps and racing scheduled for 7 and 7:30 respectively.
Additional information concerning the weekly program may be obtained by calling the track at Winston at 749-5317 or Kaster at 1-913-287-4131.
