For first-year Missouri teachers, there is a $19,163 difference between the highest paying district and districts paying the state-mandated minimum starting salary ($25,000 for teachers with a bachelor’s degree), according to an annual report featuring data from 100% of the state’s public school districts.

The 2017-2018 MSTA Missouri Salary Schedule and Benefits Report offers a clear picture of salaries for Missouri teachers. Again, this year, all 518 school districts responded to the survey. Participating districts completed a salary questionnaire and supplied a copy of the district’s salary schedule to the MSTA Salary and Research Department.

How does Daviess County Rank?

The average minimum and maximum salary for Daviess County teachers with a bachelor’s degree is $28, 875 – $37,657, with the maximum for a bachelor’s “plus” (additional college hours) at $41,266.

Teachers with a master’s degree earn on average between $32,284 and $43,754, and those with additional education (holding a specialist or doctorate degree) set at a maximum of $45,925.

“Our annual research shows that although Missouri teachers are making small gains in salaries, they are still making less than teachers nationwide,” said MSTA Executive Director Bruce Moe. “Missouri teachers make more than $9,000 less than the national average.”

MSTA members are working to overcome this trend. At its annual convention in November, MSTA delegates again adopted resolutions prioritizing educator salaries. MSTA supports a minimum statewide salary schedule.

MSTA also supports an annual equitable salary increment for additional years of service and additional education experience and recognition of teachers’ actual years of experience for salary schedule advancement and placement.
