Aaron Tucker, 25, originally charged with murder in Daviess County, had his charge reduced to involuntary manslaughter, C felony, in Daviess County Circuit Court on Monday. The charge was amended following an investigation by Daviess County Prosecutor Andrea Gibson.
A reduction in bond was also requested, from $100,000 down to a $10,000 bond with a 10% deposit and the condition that the defendant live in Milan. Tucker is set to appear for arraignment in the Daviess County Circuit Court today (March 15), before Judge Thomas Chapman.
“Mr. Tucker was originally charged based on the statements, evidence, and information available at the time of the charging,” says Prosecutor Gibson. “Based on newly obtained evidence from the forensic medical examination, the state amended the charges to confirm with the evidence. The state greatly appreciates the efforts by law enforcement, the Coroner’s office, and the medical examiner’s office.”
A charge of second degree murder was filed on Tucker after the death of Michael Chad Estabrook, 48, at a Jamesport residence. Tucker was taken into custody shortly after the incident.
Daviess County Ambulance and Jamesport First Responders were dispatched to the residence at 300 Lock Springs Lake St., Jamesport, at 5:20 a.m. on Nov. 12, 2016, in reference to a possible cardiac arrest. They found Estabrook unresponsive on the bedroom floor. According to the probable cause statement, the ambulance crew learned that Estabrook had been knocked unconscious during a physical altercation. He was transported to Hedrick Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Tucker admitted to striking Estabrook in his jaw with a closed fist, rendering him unconscious. Both Tucker and Estabrook were living at the residence. Tucker is Estabrook’s nephew.
Tucker was arraigned Nov. 15, 2016, before Judge Daren Adkins in the Daviess County Associate Circuit Court and charged with the class A felony of murder in the second degree. Bond was set at $100,000.
