“Today is yet another beginning,” Stake President Michael D. Call, Richmond, said. “It’s the first conference of the new stake. It’s a new day.”

His message was one of hope, seeking forgiveness and resolving to do better to the 1,083 in attendance during the Sunday morning meeting.

“Don’t burden yourself with those regrets,” he said. “No matter what’s happened in your life… God is merciful. He is a God of second chances. You can still have joy and forgiveness, happiness and eternal salvation.”

Stake conferences are generally held twice a year so leaders can provide instruction and inspiration to members of the stake, which is similar to a diocese.

Call was joined by his counselors, R. Scott Holman, Maryville, and Anthony P. Myers, Kearney, in sharing messages to the members as well as President Randy J. Vest and Kristine Vest of the Missouri Independence Mission and President Dennis H. Karpowitz and Dorothy Karpowitz of the Kansas City Missouri Temple.

Over the two days of the conference, church leaders encouraged members to help rescue the lost sheep of Israel, strengthen the rising generation and re-establish the Sabbath day to its divinely appointed purposes.

The Far West Missouri Stake consists of over 3,000 members from across the northwestern part of Missouri including the Albany, Chillicothe, Trenton and Wood Heights branches and the Cameron 1st, Far West, Gallatin, Kearney 1st, Kearney 3rd and Maryville wards.
