A jury trial for Pauline Froman has been set for Sept. 7-10. On June 8, Mrs. Froman plead not guilty to 10 counts of stealing, 12 counts of stealing grain, and three counts of misleading Department of Agriculture auditors. The case will be heard by Judge Daniel Chadwick.

A dissolution of marriage was granted June 1 to Kristy Jo Reed from Kenneth Reed. The petitioner’s maiden name of Kristy Jo Dixon was restored.

Traffic Fines

The following are traffic cases which were heard in the Circuit Court of Daviess County involving a plea of guilty without contest and payment by mail of the standard fine plus court costs. The total fines assessed for defendants who reside outside of Missouri was $1,474.50 for 23 cases. The total fines assessed for defendants who reside in Missouri was $1,692.50 for 26 cases. Court costs collected for the State of Missouri amount to $58.50 for moving traffic violations. Missouri defendants, offenses and fines are listed below:

Civil Court

Promissory Note: A consent judgment was entered for Blue Ridge Bank and Trust and against Melvin Turner Jr.

Suits on Account: Default judgments were entered for FIA Card Services and against James B. Stevens (two counts), and for the New Liberty Hospital and against Tamara and Michael Witt. Midland Funding vs. Benjamin Booth was dismissed by the parties.

Small Claims: Home Exchange Bank vs. Colynn Lent was dismissed by the parties.

County Commission

James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, reported that they are making repairs when possible this week. They also discussed the various sites that have been reported in the past week.

Clint Bird, Liberty Township board member, reported a culvert problem in that township. James Lewis reported that the culvert in question is the township’s responsibility.

Lawrence Curtis, Liberty Township landowner, reported a drainage problem. The commission will report the matter to the township board.

The monthly treasurer’s report was reviewed and bills were audited and paid.

A brush removal contract was executed between the county and a landowner in Liberty Township.

David Michael, Grand River Township landowner, met with the commission regarding road conditions.

Tom McDaniel, Washington Township landowner, met with the commission regarding road conditions and drainage problems.

Following several inspections of the courthouse, the commission requested a quote from Andy Schwartz, Jamesport, for repair of the mortar work on the columns and dome area. Mr. Schwartz quoted the amount of $1,200 for repairs, sealing and paint.

In the afternoon, the commissioner inspected roads, flooding and culverts in Benton, Washington, Grand River, Union, and Liberty Townships.

Annie Gibson, prosecuting attorney, met with the commission regarding brush control issues.

Sheriff’s Office

Shad Campbell, 37, Kansas City, was arrested June 4 for DWI persistent offender, endangering the welfare of a child second degree, and failure to drive on right half of roadway. He posted $15,000 bond.

Jeffery DeMarco, 45, Lee’s Summit, was arrested May 31 for misdemeanor no valid license. He posted $350 bond.
