Jasmine Swearingin and Courtney Warford, both ninth graders at Pattonsburg R-2 High School, were announced as winners of the 2008 Missouri Recycles Day Poster Contest by the Missouri Recycling Association (MORA).
Jasmine received first place in the poster contest and Courtney received second place.
Over 2,000 students from across the state participated in this annual contest organized by the Missouri Recycling Association. The statewide contest was open to school-aged children from kindergarten through 12th grade.
MORA will print a 2009 Missouri Recycles Day calendar featuring all first and second place winning posters. All winners will be recognized at a ceremony at the State Capitol in Jefferson City on February 3, 2009.
The contest was held to commemorate the 12th annual Missouri Recycles Day on November 15. This event is held in conjunction with America Recycles Day. Thousands of people across the state and nation will celebrate recycling’s success and will make a commitment to keep recycling working.
