Funeral services for Lillian Morrison were held April 17, 2006, at Stroup-Thompson Funeral Home, Winston. Burial was at Mount Ayr Cemetery, Altamont. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Lillian Lorene Morrison, 98, Altamont, died on April 15, 2006, at a healthcare center in Bethany.
Mrs. Morrison was born on Feb. 27, 1908, to William Allen and Lillie Rose (Cobb) Baxter on a farm west of Winston. In 1926, she graduated from Winston High School, where she set the record of 72 points made in one basketball game.
On March 12, 1928, she married Merle Morrison and they lived on a farm
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Merle Morrison on Dec. 16, 1987; four brothers, Omar, Ralph, Kenneth and Bernley; a sister, Wahneta, and an infant sister.
Survivors include one daughter, Maxine Parker, Altamont; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
