Two Gallatin women were inured in an accident on Hwy. 6 about a half mile east of Altamont in Daviess County at about 9:10 p.m. last Wednesday, Aug. 14, according to a report by the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred as Bethany Vandiver, 21, was westbound on Hwy. 6 and went off the north side of the road. She over-corrected and went across the center line, striking a vehicle driven by Debra Hawman, 37, nearly head on.

The Vandiver vehicle came to rest off the north side of the road. The Hawman vehicle went off the south side of the road, where it overturned and came to rest on the driver’s side.

Bethany Vandiver received minor injuries. Debra Hawman received moderate injuries. Both were taken by EMS to Cameron Regional Medical Center. Vandiver was wearing a seat belt. Hawman was not.

The accident was investigated by Tpr. T.B. Gardner, assisted by Tpr. J.P. Lynch.

Bethany Vandiver received a summons for failure to keep on right half of road.
