Thunder rolled … Daviess County roads underwater

The thunder rolled and the lightning flashed between 11-4 a.m. in last night’s thunderstorm (Tuesday, June 24) which produced from between 4 ½ inches to 6-7 inches of rain in some areas of Daviess County. Areas around Princeton may have received as much as 9 inches of rain. A flood warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for northern Daviess County, northern Grundy County and southern Harrison County until 6 p.m. tonight (Wednesday).

Donnie Cecil

Funeral services are pending for Donnie Cecil at McWillaims Funeral Home in Gallatin.

Mr. Cecil passed away today, Wednesday, June 25, at the Cameron hospital.

Funeral services for Kenneth Calvin were held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Mabel Worship Center in Cameron. Arrangements were by Poland Thompson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Mabel Worship Center.

Doyle Kime

Graveside services for Doyle Kime were held Monday at the Masonic Cemetery in Jamesport. Arrangements were by McWilliams Funeral Home in Jamesport. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jamesport FFA Leadership Fund or Jamesport Livestock Show in care of the funeral home.

Peter Dilks

A memorial service for Peter Dilks was held at 1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe. There has been a cremation. There will be a private family burial at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Dilks family and left at the funeral home or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe, MO 64601.

Local shooters win at area event

Thirty-nine shooters gathered at the Trenton Trap and Skeet Club on Saturday, June 21, to compete in the first annual 99 target event held in conjunction with Trenton=s Gooseberry Festival.

FSA extends crop reporting deadline

Tim Kelley, executive director of Missouri Farm Service Agency (FSA) has announced that the 2008 final crop reporting deadline for all crops has been extended to August 15, 2008.

Kerns and King to receive Eagle Scout award

Billy Kerns and Mitchell King of Gallatin Boy Scout Troop 67 will be honored at a special Eagle Scout ceremony Sunday, June 29, at 3 p.m. at the Gallatin United Methodist Church. A reception will follow. The public is invited to attend.
