Green Hills Telephone of Breckenridge announces three new employees who began work there during the first quarter of this business year. Two of the employees, Brandon Hoover and Steve Gann, reside at Gallatin, and a third, Vicky Howe, is a resident of Chillicothe.

Senate addresses $16.8 billion budget

The Missouri State Senate this week began intensive floor work on state government’s $16.8 billion budget for the next fiscal year, which begins July 1. Twelve appropriation bills comprise the budget, which pays for all public services provided by the state of Missouri.

Meth lab busted

Authorities made one arrest in a bust of a methamphetamine lab on Tuesday, April 6, at a rural residence northwest of Pattonsburg. The investigation leading to the arrest was a cooperative effort of the Mo. State Highway Patrol, Drug Strike Force, and the Daviess County Sheriff’s Dept.

Decisions now on Internet issues

‘Little Shop of Horrors’ this week

Hot issues prompt decisive votes

Daviess County voters turned out in good numbers yesterday and, in many instances, made decisive choices on various issues affecting pocketbooks, schools, and local government. Local voters bucked against statewide results, endorsing Proposition B to authorize concealed weapons by a 287-vote margin.

Sarah Lucetta “Sadie” (Strickland) Short, 83, Hamilton, died March 25, 1999, at her residence.

Mrs. Short was born on a farm northwest of Hamilton. She graduated from the Altamont high school.

Edwin Peniston d. 1999

Edwin Peniston, 83, Oceanside, Calif., died March 29, 1999.

Mr. Peniston had moved to California from Gallatin last year.

Delbert Plymell d. 1999

Delbert J. Plymell, 96, died March 29, 1999, at his home. Mr. Plymell, a farmer, was born in Daviess County. He was a resident of Pattonsburg.

Mary Hannah Ray d. 1999

Mary Hannah Ray, 97, died March 30, 1999, at the Baptist Home, Chillicothe. Mrs. Ray, a homemaker, was born in Gilman City. Mrs. Ray was a charter resident of the Baptist Home in Chillicothe since 1988. She had also been a member of the First Baptist Church, Gallatin, for 58 years.

David Nible d. 1999

David L. Nible, 66, Cameron, died March 30, 1999, at his home. Mr. Nible was born at Cainsville. He lived in the Lake Viking area of Gallatin before moving to Cameron two years ago.
