CHILLICOTHE, MO — Susan Elson, a high school art teacher at Chillicothe R-2 School, has been selected as Missouri Art Educator of the Year. Elson has over 28 years of teaching experience, including 13 years at Chillicothe. She is known for engaging students in experiencing art in deep and meaningful ways, respecting and encouraging their creative growth and development. She has been active in the Missouri Art Education Association and served as its president from 2006-08. Elson displays her students’ work around the community and hosts a yearly spring art show at Gary Dickinson Performing Arts Center.
