CAMERON, MO — How should economic development be financed? Cameron city officials are considering a proposal which would authorize a payment of $3,042 per month to an entity formed by the Cameron Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development of Cameron (EDOC). The EDOC would then use those funds to hire an economic developer or contract with a development firm to handle duties assigned by EDOC. Earlier this year, the EDOC hired Rumery and Associates as the economic developer for a contract price of $2,000 per month. No decision on the funding proposal has been made.
