Funeral services for Harold Hoover were conducted Tuesday, May 25, at the Rupp Chapel. The interment was at the Ashland Cemetery.
Warren McElwain, chairman of Cameron Regional Medical Center’s Scholarship and Education Committee, and Joseph F. Abrutz, Jr., CRMC’s administrator, have announced that the CRMC Board of Directors recently awarded a total of $9,500 in scholarships to 19 high school seniors graduating from 10 different school districts in the four-county area. This is the 21st year for the Medical Center’s scholarship program.

Brian and Laura Bray, Maysville, proudly announce the birth of a daughter, Avery Marie Bray. She was born at 7:41 p.m. on Saturday, May 22, at Cameron Regional Medical Center. Avery weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces, and was 19 ½ inches long. Her siblings are Caleb, 7, and Garrett, 4.

Memorial Day is right around the corner on Monday, May 31, and as usual the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW Post #2172 in Gallatin will be at the four-way stop at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 29, to accept donations as they pass out Buddy Poppies.
Memorial Day is the day the community gathers to recognize and remember those who gave their lives defending our nation. VFW Frank Frazier 2172 and the American Legion will hold Memorial Day services at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 31, at Hillcrest Cemetery, northwest of Gallatin. Ladies Auxiliary, boy scouts and girl scouts will assist. Incoming superintendent for Gallatin High School Dennis Croy will be the guest speaker.
The 72nd Annual Meeting of Farmers’ Electric Cooperative will be held Tuesday, June 8, at the Gary Dickinson Performing Arts Center in Chillicothe. Registration for the meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. Board President Ron Cornett, Pattonsburg, will call the meeting to order at 7 p.m.
Teddy Holcomb asked to hire a seasonal person for summer help in the street department and discussed bids on the hot mix project for this summer during the regular meeting of the Gallatin Board of Aldermen held May 24. After returning from an executive session, the board agreed to hire two seasonal employees for the summer of 2010.
Funeral services for Pauline Bridgman were held Sunday, May 23, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Burial was at Cope Cemetery near Weatherby. Memorials may be made to the Fairview Community Church or Cope Cemetery.
Winston Elementary Title 1 Preschool celebrated the end of the year with their annual graduation on May 11. This year’s class had 16 graduates. State Rep. Casey Guernsey, left, and Sen. Brad Lager, right, welcomed students from Tri-County Elementary to Jefferson City recently. Mrs. Karen Shuler brought her fourth grade class to the state capital with the help of three parents and a grandparent of one of the students. They enjoyed a tour of the Capitol, the Governor’s Mansion, and the Missouri Supreme Court during their trip.
