Gallatin’s Rochelle Davitt, Matt Adkison and Tray Whitt are among area athletes honored this week with their selection to the 1998-99 Northwest All-District Basketball Teams. Players were nominated by coaches and area media and the final selection was made by members of the Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association.
Davitt, a sophomore, led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with an average of 13.8 points per game. She also averaged a team high 7.2 rebounds per contest. Adkison and Whitt, both seniors, formed the top scoring duo for the Bulldogs. Adkison scored 508 points, an 18.1 average, and ended his high school career with 1,273 points in 85 games played. Whitt scored 405 points for a 14.5 average. His 1,369 career points put him in the all-time top 5 at Gallatin High School.
Adkison and Whitt join Gallatin Lady Bulldog seniors Jill Wilkinson and Kelly Waterbury as players recently selected to play in the 8th Annual District 26F Lions All-Star Basketball Classic in June. The event, for 1999 graduating seniors, will be held at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville.
