Gallatin R-5 receives grants for expansion, computers

The Gallatin R-5 School District received two grants for the upcoming year, according to a report following the meeting of the Board of Education held July 19. One grant is for the expansion of the early childhood center, which is the former Head Start building. The grant will allow for a 12′ x 20′ room to be added on the south of the existing building. Pattonsburg hires new ag teacher

Jeremy Dodds was hired as the new ag teacher for Pattonsburg, according to minutes from a meeting of the R-2 Board of Education held Wednesday, July 18. Tracy Parton was hired as the new part-time night custodian.

School starts early at North Daviess

The North Daviess R-3 Board of Education decided to start school early this year with the first day of school on Thursday, Aug. 16. In other business at the meeting of the board held Monday, July 16, Becky Morris reported that the Coffey school building was broken in to earlier this month and some vandalism occurred.

Gallatin R-5 board meets July 19

The Gallatin R-5 Board of Education will hold its meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, at the high school.
