Peculiar People

by Pastor Steve Ellison

If you are a Christian, Titus 2:13-14 should be a boost to your self esteem, “…our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.”(NASU)

The fact that Jesus Christ, our great God and Savior died partly so that you could be

Marvelous Grace

by Pastor Steve Ellison

Titus 2:11-14 is a concise tribute to the marvelous effects of God’s grace:

“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, who gave Himself

Dishonoring or Adorning, It’s Your Choice

by Pastor Steve Ellison

The book of Titus is about leadership and it’s about education. It also gives some insight into the importance of the family.

Titus 2 points out the importance of our behavior to how the gospel message is received. It is likely that we Christians will have to bear some of the blame for unbelievers rejecting the gospel message. In the midst of the discipleship instructions given

Template for Discipleship

by Pastor Steve Ellison

Titus 2 is a marvelous passage. If a church is ignoring Titus 2, it is missing significant instruction regarding its fundamental mission. This passage gives a detailed template for discipleship in the church.

Paul’s letter to Titus details the function of church leaders who are called to develop additional leaders.

Titus 1:10-16 points out some dangers that a church leader should look out for, “For there are many rebellious men, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, 11 who must be silenced because they are upsetting whole families, teaching things they should not teach for the sake

The Lifestyle for Teaching

by Pastor Steve Ellison

Quality leadership is a necessity for every organization and also for an organism like the church. If the church is going to function as God intends it to, we will have to emphasize developing leaders. The book of Titus tells us how to go about that task.

A quick reading of Titus shows that character not skills determines the quality of church leadership. According to Titus

A Christian Above Reproach

by Pastor Steve Ellison

The book of Titus is a set of instructions to Titus (and us) about developing leaders. It is a detailed blueprint regarding church discipleship. Christ desires that the church become a purified people for His own possession. He wants to make us zealous for good deeds.

Titus 1:6-16 points out both positive and negative qualities that we ought to take note of. While it is clear

Being Good, Doing Good

by Pastor Steve Ellison

The Apostle Paul trained and equipped Titus to oversee the churches on the island of Crete. Paul wrote Titus a letter which is part of the New Testament. That letter is mainly a set of instructions for Titus’ work.

There is a consistent theme running through the letter. That theme includes two very closely related ideas: “being good” and “doing good.”

Titus was tasked with developing

The Assignment Given to Titus

by Pastor Steve Ellison

The Apostle Paul established some churches on the island of Crete. When Paul moved on to set up new churches elsewhere, he left those churches in the capable hands of Titus. Paul had trained and equipped Titus for a special job.

Titus 1:1‑5 states, “Paul, a bond‑servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the faith of those chosen of God and the knowledge
