Curious or Converted?

by Pastor Steve Ellison

One day after the writing of this column, I will be heading to Sturgis, S.D., for a week. I will be helping to staff an evangelism tent at the motorcycle rally. We will be encouraging people to consider the most important question ever posed to a human being. Every other issue pales, really fades to total insignificance, in the light of this question.

What is Faith?

by Pastor Steve Ellison

Hebrews 11:6 is about as straight forward as a verse could possibly be, “Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” (NASU)

If any human wants to please the Creator, he will have to exercise faith in the Creator. The created human will have

Let the Peace of Christ Rule

by Pastor Steve Ellison

Peace is a marvelous quality to have. In fact, peace is part of the nature and character of God. Having peace in our hearts just might bring about spiritual awakening and real revival in our churches which would spill over into our communities.

Isaiah 9:6 introduces Jesus as the Prince of Peace. The angels in Luke 2:14 announced peace among men because the Messiah is born.

Humility

by Pastor Steve Ellison

Humility seems to be a lost virtue in 2014, at least in Western culture. The Bible speaks a great deal about humility and describes humble persons as godly persons.

Humility in church members, clergy and laity alike, might foster revival in America. Ephesians 4 and Colossians 3 instruct us to live humble and gentle lives. Romans 12:3 gives a simple yet profound definition of humility, “For

First Love

by Pastor Steve Ellison

Lost church members are holding back revival in 21st Century America. The condition of my heart and the hearts of other saved church members is holding back the revival that God wants to bring to America.

Our refusal to dwell on things that are honorable, right, pure, lovely, praiseworthy, and excellent is keeping God from sweeping through our churches with a time of refreshment and reviving.

My Attitude

by Pastor Steve Ellison

The Church in America is in desperate need of reviving. We need a strong movement of the Spirit of God to blow through us. The first requirement for reviving is that we have the divine spark of life within us. In other words, we must have been regenerated upon trusting Christ as Savior and Lord. A second requirement is that we must agree with God about

The First Requirement for Revival

by Pastor Steve Ellison

American Christians bemoan the condition of culture around them and rightly so. The state of our nation is lower than low. We deserve and should expect the judgment of God to fall sooner rather than later.

The state of our culture and our nation is a terrible problem but the larger problem is the state of the church. We wish for true revival to break out.

Strengthened with All Power

by Pastor Steve Ellison

While being held in bondage in Rome, Paul wrote out a prayer for the church at Colossae. That prayer is recorded in Colossians 1:9-14.

First, he prayed that the Colossians would be controlled by the will of God, walk in a manner worthy of God, pleasing God in every respect. Verses 11-12 ask that God would strengthen the Colossians (and all Christians) for a specific and

Praying for the Saints

by Pastor Steve Ellison

Colossians 1:9-12 is one of the four “Prison Prayers of Paul.” The other three are found in Ephesians 1, Ephesians 3, and Philippians 1. They are so named because Paul wrote them while he was in Roman custody. It is quite likely that he was chained to a Roman guard while he wrote.

Studying these prayers can be a very beneficial exercise. Modeling your prayers after
