The Perfect Christmas Gift

by Pastor Steve Ellison

Every one of us has faced the difficult task of purchasing a Christmas gift for the individual who already has everything. In reality it only seems that this person has everything. No person has everything. However, God does have everything.

God states in Exodus 19, Deuteronomy 10, Psalm 24, Psalm 50, and 1 Corinthians 10 that the whole world and all it contains and all who

God’s Missionary Heart

by Pastor Steve Ellison

Christmas is the story of the world’s greatest mission trip. This mission trip accomplished more and cost more than all the world’s other religious mission trips combined.

Genesis 3 records the reason for this mission trip. It was a response to the most terrible and dastardly rebellion the world has ever seen. Created beings conspired against their good and benevolent Creator.

The two highest forms of

Sneak Attacks

by Pastor Steve Ellison

In the early days of World War II, the U.S. managed to somehow not be drawn into direct military action. That would soon change.

While no one would accuse Japan and the U.S. of being on friendly terms, the Japanese did have ambassadors in Washington, D.C. when the attack occurred. Because of the sneak attack, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt declared Dec. 7, 1941, to be a

Thanksgiving Praise

by Pastor Steve Ellison

The Thanksgiving holiday has a long tradition here in the U.S. The Plymouth Colony observed the first Thanksgiving in 1621. George Washington and other early Presidents directed the country to celebrate Thanksgiving in an on-again, off-again fashion until Abraham Lincoln made it an official annual federal holiday during the Civil War. However, the tradition of expressing thankfulness to God goes back much further than that.

Raising the Dead

by Pastor Steve Ellison

Death entered the world through Adam and remains mankind’s most insurmountable problem. It is appointed that every person will physically die. There is no solution for that.

The Bible records a very few special cases in which God supernaturally intervened so that a dead person was brought back to life. John 11 records one of these cases.

Lazarus, a close friend of Jesus, became very sick

Understanding Revelation

by Pastor Steve Ellison

In the real estate business, location is everything. In Biblical study, context is everything.

First, the Holy Spirit penned Revelation at the end of the apostolic age. It serves as a warning against falling away. It is written to provide the greatest possible encouragement to keep the faith.

The recipients of Revelation were already in the midst of great tribulation and persecution. It had already started

Be Not in the Dark

by Pastor Steve Ellison

We could spend a lifetime studying what the Bible says about God as Light. What I will do here, could not even qualify as scratching the surface.

1 John 1:5-8 states, This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. (NASU)

God is Light. The Bible refers to Jesus

Be Not Afraid

by Pastor Steve Ellison

Hebrews 10:31 states a sobering truth, “It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” However, one of the dominant themes of both the Old and New Testaments is a recurring promise that God gives regarding His faithfulness. He repeatedly declares that we have no reason to be afraid because He will never leave us and never forsake us.

Heart Slave

by Pastor Steve Ellison

Exodus 21 and Leviticus 15 both describe a situation that is foreign to us. It offends our modern sensibilities. It involves slavery or more accurately, indentured servitude. However, this situation illustrates a marvelous truth about God.

Exodus 12 and Leviticus 15 give guidelines for one Hebrew being a slave to another Hebrew. The slave would serve for a specific period of time (6 years), thus we
