County Sheriff Report (7-25-12)

Darrell Price, 36, Altamont, was arrested July 19 on two felony counts of unlawful possession of firearm and misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. Deputies had been called to his residence in Altamont in reference to a domestic dispute. Sheriff: Speed guns granted to improve road safety

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department was awarded two speed guns valued at $4,343 by the Northwest Region Coalition for Roadway Safety. Daviess County was one of nine grants approved for funding this year. The grants totaled more than $50,000 for the Northwest 20-county area.

“Our goal as a safety coalition is to partner together to keep people safe on our roads,” says Jackie Spainhower, director of the coalition’s northwest region.

Sheriff: Two arrests during crackdown

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office made two drunk driving arrests during the May 3-13, 2012, drunk driving crackdown.

Deputies issued a total of 15 traffic summonses, including speeding, turn signal violations, careless driving, driving while suspended, driving without a valid driver’s license, and no insurance. A felony drug arrest was made, and 35 warnings were issued during the campaign. A total of 39 motorists were stopped.

Sheriff receives complaints about fraudulent telemarketing

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is receiving calls complaining that unwanted telephone solicitations are being received. Sheriff Ben Becerra, as well as the other sheriffs of Missouri, share your concern about receiving unwanted telephone solicitations.

Sheriff’s crackdown nets one arrest, five summonses, 33 warnings

The Daviess County Sheriff’s office made 35 traffic stops during the recent May 4-13, 2012, drunk driving crackdown.

Deputies issued three summonses for speed, one for no proof of insurance and one for no valid license. Deputies made one arrest for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. A total of 33 warnings were issued during the crackdown.

Suspects apprehended in ATV theft

Three subjects have been arrested and are being held at the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail in connection with the theft of an ATV from Rachel Hines of Altamont.

James Barrett, 55, Kansas City, and Krystal Mann, 28, Galt, have each been charged with felony receiving stolen property. Kristopher Powers, 36, Kansas City, is charged with tampering with motor vehicle.
