38th Annual Eagle Days at Squaw Creek NWR

Come celebrate the 38th annual Eagle Days at Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. See wildlife like bald eagles, trumpeter swans, snow geese, and ducks!

NCMC provides dual credit scholarships to five high school students

The college’s dual credit program allows qualified high school students to enroll in college-level classes that earn both high school and college credit. All of NCMC’s dual credit students were invited to attend.

Music to flood Fayette

As it does each fall, band music will flood the streets of Fayette and the Central Methodist University football field as the invigorating Band Day arrives to the thrill of the audience lining the square. Bands entered into the competition include Gallatin (Xandria Obico), Class 2.

This year’s Band Day at CMU may be bigger than all those that have gone before. Fully, 54 schools and some 2,800 band members

Bridge inspections

Missouri has more than 10,000 bridges across the state and each is part of a program of inspection, repair and maintenance to keep them in the best condition possible for those who travel Missouri’s highways. In-depth under-bridge inspections are part of that program and the schedule of these inspections for several bridges in Northwest Missouri over the next few weeks has changed.

Century Farm families help county celebrate rich legacy

The theme of this year’s Daviess County Chautauqua is “Our Rich Heritage” and Century Farm families have been asked to bring their tractors, trailers, trucks and anything else farm-related to serve as special grand marshals at the 2016 Chautauqua Parade.

The parade will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17. The parade line-up will start at the Baptist Church, 511 West Richardson Street, and head towards Main Street

MDC holding auction Oct. 15 in Salem

Items include used vehicles and equipment. Get full list at mdc.mo.gov/auction.

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will hold a public auction of various used Department vehicles and equipment on Saturday, Oct. 15, starting at 10 a.m. at its Salem Maintenance Center located at the junction of Highway 72 and Highway 32. The auction will include boats, outboard motors, tractors, trailers, farm equipment, and vehicles.

Detour at Kingston to reach Polo

The Hwy. 13 bridge south of Kingston remains closed for repairs/replacement so an alternate route is necessary to get to Gallatin’s Friday night football game at Polo.

If taking Hwy. 13, turn right on Rt. HH in Kingston and go approximately one mile west to SW Log Creek Rd. (gravel). Take Log Creek Rd. south to SW Murphy Drive (gravel). Turn left (east) on Murphy Drive and continue to Hwy.
