Jail Signs Letter of Intent for Management System

The Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail Board discussed the jail management system through the Missouri Association of Sheriffs and the board agreed to send a letter of intent to them during their meeting on May 21. The more counties that sign for the system, the cheaper the price.

Resound Fest Returns to Miracle Hills Ranch

On June 12-13, the Resound Fest, produced by LifeLight, will return to Miracle Hills Ranch in Bethany for its sixth year. The free Christian music festival promises a weekend full of uplifting music and dynamic speakers for all who attend.

Change to Ameren Fuel Charge Approved

The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved a filing made by Union Electric Company d/b/a Ameren Missouri to adjust the fuel and purchased power adjustment charge (FAC) on the bills of its electric customers.

A typical residential customer currently pays an FAC of approximately $4.64 a month. As a result of these two filings, the FAC will drop to approximately $4.62 a month. The change is expected to take effect

St. Gabriel Cemetery approved, squared away for local monastery

On May 7, the Daviess County Commission approved the establishment of St. Gabriel Cemetery for a Serbian Orthodox monastery which was recently established in Daviess County.

GHCAA Celebrates 50 Years

On June 4, one area non-profit will commemorate a very significant milestone. Green Hills Community Action Agency will celebrate its 50th year of battling poverty in the nine county Green Hills region of Missouri. In honor of this event, the public is invited to an open house on Thursday, June 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at GHCAA’s offices in Trenton.

A Monastery in our Midst

“I buried someone yesterday. How do I establish a cemetery?”

That unusual question confronted Daviess County’s newly-elected recorder, Jane McKinsey, last Friday morning.
