Stripe Rust Reduces Yield in Area Wheat Fields

Stripe rust is being found in wheat fields located along the Missouri River in Northwest Missouri. The disease impacts the top leaf or flag leaf of the wheat plant. Wheat is now in the grain fill stage. When leaves are diseased, the leaf area that is needed for grain fill is damaged and yields will be reduced.

Free Fishing at Bennett Spring During Fest

The inaugural Trout Fest is being held during Missouri‘s Free Fishing Weekend (June 6 & 7) at Bennett Spring State Park. The purpose of the event is to celebrate trout fishing opportunities at Missouri State Parks, while highlighting the importance of conservation.  The Department of Conservation is tagging 100 trout per day (200 total) and releasing them into the spring creek. Lions All-Star Games Scheduled

Lions All-Star Basketball Classic is June 6. Eight games will feature nearly 90 high school standouts from the 2014-2015 season with all games to be played at the Ketcham Community Center on the campus of North Central Missouri College in Trenton. The games start at 9 a.m. and will continue until done. There will be eight games and the format will be as it has been in past years.

Vaughn Walters Will Sell at Hunting and Fishing Show

Second Annual Hunting, Fishing Collectibles Show

The second annual North Central Missouri Hunting & Fishing Collectibles Show will be held June 5 and 6 at the Litton Ag Campus, Jenkins Expo Center in Chillicothe. The show will take place from 1-8 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Big BAM Miles Across the State

Big BAM is a party on wheels—bicycle wheels, that is. Big BAM (Bicycle Across Missouri) is a cross-state bicycle ride and music festival, from the Missouri to the Mississippi River, which covers 300 miles and includes more than two dozen bands at different stops during the five-day ride. Jail Signs Letter of Intent for Management System

The Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail Board discussed the jail management system through the Missouri Association of Sheriffs and the board agreed to send a letter of intent to them during their meeting on May 21. The more counties that sign for the system, the cheaper the price.
