Freya Hope Lopp 2014-2014

Freya Hope Lopp, nine days, premature infant daughter of Allen and Michelle (Sherwood) Lopp, passed away on July 5, 2014, at Children’s Mercy Hospital.

Survivors: parents; sister, Nichole; two brothers, Damion and Zeus; grandparents, Raye (George “Joe”) Phelps, all of Altamont.

Freya has been cremated under the direction of Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron.

Harold V. Shopbell 1934-2014

Harold V. Shopbell, 79, Gallatin, died July 5, 2014, at Liberty Hospital.

He was born Aug. 27, 1934, to Guy and Goldie (Justice) Shopbell in Union Star. He married Roselie Mary Campbell on April 13, 1958. She preceded him in death in 2005.

Joyce Clark 1926-2014

A memorial service for Joyce Clark will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home, Hamilton. The body has been cremated. Arrangements were by Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton.

Carl W. “Cotton” Gutshall 1921-2014

Carl W. “Cotton” Gutshall, 93, Gilman City, passed away July 6, 2014, at the Cameron Veteran’s Home.

He was born Feb. 27, 1921, in Blue Ridge, the son of Glenn Forrest and Osta K. (Twedell) Gutshall. He attended grade school at Blue Ridge and high school in Gilman City, where he graduated in 1940. He also attended college at Maryville for a year. When WWII broke out, Cotton joined the

L. Frank Wilson 1922-2014

Funeral services for L. Frank Wilson will be Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the Missouri Veteran’s Home, Cameron. Burial: Mirabile Cemetery. Memorial donations to the local VFW and/or Salvation Army. Arrangements: Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron.

Craig McBroom 1961-2014

Tragedy once again strikes the McBroom family of Gallatin, with the death of Craig McBroom on June 30, 2014, as the result of injuries sustained in an accident in Wichita Kansas.

It was October 23, 1961, when Clayton and Mildred McBroom first welcomed Craig into this world. He was the fourth of what would become a family of eight children. Craig was inherently charming, sharp-witted and well-liked in the community.

Christina “Christi” Coates 1962–2014

Christina “Christi” Coates, 51, Bethany, passed away July 2, 2014, at a Bethany hospital.

She was born November 7, 1962, in Fairfax, the daughter of Robert Dean and Karen (Crowley) Coates.

Christi served in the U.S. Army and was a registered nurse at the VA hospital in Kansas City.

On August 9, 2012, she married Lynn Williams. He survives of the home.

Bicyclist Hit by Train Dies

Craig McBroom, 52, Wichita, Kan., who was hit by a train in south Wichita, has died. Mr. McBroom was riding his bicycle to his job at Spangles. McBroom is a native of Gallatin.

The Wichita Eagle reports that police say Craig McBroom died Tuesday at Via Christi Hospital St. Francis. He had been treated there since being hit by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train shortly before 7:45 a.m. on

Mary Ann Heldenbrand 1927-2014

Mary Ann Heldenbrand, 87, of Gallatin, passed away June 23, 2014, at Cameron Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 26, at the First Christian Church in Gallatin.
