Jane Ann Paul 1920-2017

Jane Ann Paul passed away peacefully on Feb. 8, 2017, at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo., just six days short of her 97th birthday. She and her late husband, Bob, had been residents of Lee’s Summit, since Oct. 2000. Edna May Wathen 1916-2017

Our mother, Edna May Wathen, joined our father and our brother in heaven on Feb. 5, 2017.  Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10 at the Lawson Baptist Church with the family receiving friends 1-hour prior. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon with visitation 1:30 to 2pm at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Burial will be at Mt. Ayr Cemetery, Altamont. Memorials

Victor Shandrew d. Feb. 2, 2017

A formal service will be held at a later date for Victor Shandrew. Cremation was entrusted to Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton.

Victor E. Shandrew, 72, Cameron, formerly of Gallatin, died on Feb. 2, at Quail Run Nursing Home, Cameron.

In the past, Victor worked as a farm hand.

He attended the First Christian Church in Gallatin.

Survivors include his sister, Paula Torrey, Edwardsville, Kan.

Daniel Lawyer d. Feb. 3, 2017

Daniel Lee Lawyer, 67, Mercer, died Feb. 3, 2017, at a Des Moines, Iowa, hospital.

Daniel has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Princeton, Mo. There are no scheduled services.

Survivors include a brother, James (Pamela) Lawyer, Lineville, Iowa; sisters, Helen Lawyer, Jamesport, and Linda Holder, LeClaire, Iowa; and companion, Linda Shroyer, Mercer.

Gary G. Harper d. Jan. 31, 2017

Graveside service for Gary Harper was held Feb. 4, 2017, at Rose Hill Cemetery, Breckenridge. Arrangements were by Pitts Funeral Home, Breckenridge.

Gary Gene Harper, 63, Breckenridge, died Jan. 31, 2017.

Survivors include sons, Cody Hayes, Cameron, Michael Hayes, Chillicothe, and Shawn Loveland, Liberty; daughters, Dawn Watkins, Jamesport, Michelle Garner, Lexington, Glenda Clancy, Henrietta, and Mary Roy, Cameron; two brothers; five sisters; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gathyl Hibbs 1933-2017

Funeral services for Gathyl Hibbs were held Feb. 3, at the First Baptist Church, Stanberry, under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Stanberry. Burial with military rites followed in High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry. Billie Rae Diem 1940-2017

Billie Rae Diem, loving Husband, Daddy and Grandpa, age 77, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 30, 2017 at his home in Springfield, Mo. Bill was born on Jan. 7, 1940 to Lou Ethel (Raines) & Wallace Whitney Diem, was the youngest of 3 children and grew up in Hamilton. Bill was preceded in death by his Father; Mother; and eldest Sister, Violet Vinita Fagley of Hamilton.

Zemilena M. Markham 1922-2017

Zemilena M. Markham, 94, of St. Joseph, (formerly of Pattonsburg) passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017 at Riverside Place, St. Joseph.

She was born Nov. 12, 1922 in Pattonsburg, the daughter of Martin David and Della Mae (Sweat) Shipers.

On Nov. 29, 1942 she married Jack L. Markham in Gallatin. He preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 2002.

James Samuel Miller 1954-2017

James Samuel “Sam” Miller, 62, of Pattonsburg, passed away Jan. 29, 2017 at his home in Pattonsburg.

He was born Nov. 18, 1954 in St. Joseph, the son of James Lester and Dorothy Ilene (Wren) Miller.

Sam served in the US Navy from 1974 to 1985 aboard the Carrier, USS America. Later he joined the Air National Guard in St. Joseph for 8 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the
