Former secretary at Jamesport accused of stealing $150,000 from school

Dana L. Maxwell, former bookkeeper/secretary for Tri-County R-7 School District, has been accused of stealing approximately $151,073 from the Tri-County School, according to a probable cause statement filed by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department on Nov. 20. Ms. Maxwell was taken into custody Nov. 20 with bond set at $100,000 cash only.

High speed chase ends in Daviess County

Sean Osborn, 26, Sugar Creek, was arrested Nov. 14 after a high speed chase that ended in Daviess County.

Osborn was driving a stolen 2012 Chevrolet Camaro northbound on I-35, which was being tracked by OnStar. Osborn turned east on U.S. Highway 36 and fled from a Cameron police officer at speeds over 120 mph. The Cameron officer was unable to overtake the vehicle.

Two arrested in Daviess Co. after theft at Walmart

On Nov. 13, Daviess County Deputy Todd Watson arrested Trygve Lewis, 23, Blue Springs, and Michael Wheeler, 22, Oak Grove, at the 72 mile marker on I-35 in Daviess County.

Deputy Watson had been advised by the Cameron Police Department that the two suspects were heading north on Highway 69, after an incident of property damage and stealing at the vending machines located at Walmart in Cameron.  Deputy Watson located

Daviess County Sheriff’s Office Incident Summary


12:55 am – Trenton PD needing assistance locating individual in Jamesport with Grundy County warrant.

8:08 am – Disturbance at residence in Jamesport.

11:30 am – Daviess County Sheriff’s Office (SO) took individual into custody on above Grundy County Warrant. Hayden McGill, 17, Trenton, was taken to Grundy County on felony warrant for two counts of 2nd degree burglary. Bond was set at $20,000.

Police, Marines, Adventist Community join to bring Toys for Tots

In an effort to make this holiday season a little brighter The Gallatin Police have once again joined together with the Adventist Community Service Center and the United States Marine Corps to bring the Toys for Tots program to Gallatin.

Current drop off locations include Shopko, Dollar General, Mi Mexico, Casey’s General Store and the Office at Lake Viking.

Altamont couple now charged with witness tampering

An Altamont couple charged with domestic assault back in August is now facing additional charges of witness tampering.

According to the probable cause report, Jarrod Cook and his wife Amy Cook were in contact approximately 258 times by phone between Aug. 19 and Oct. 24, 2015, while she was incarcerated at the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail on one felony and one misdemeanor charge of domestic assault. Daviess Co. Sheriff incident summary October 27 – November 2


1:31 pm – One-car accident 2 miles west of Jamesport. Car off roadway. No injuries.

3:30 pm – Wyandotte County Jail advising they have Joshaline Hinkle, 31, Kansas City, ready for pickup after signing waiver of extradition to return to Missouri.  Hinkle was charged with class C felony passing bad checks. Hinkle will be transferred to DDCRJ on $10,000 cash bond.
