9:47 am – Complaint regarding gravel trucks on Highway CC just north of Hamilton.

10:05 am – Well-being check on subject in Altamont.

11:05 am – Abby Farris, 30, Trenton, was taken into custody from court for probation violations on original charges of passing bad checks, misdemeanor. Bond was denied and she was transferred to DDCRJ.

Inmate tracking system up and running at regional jail

The Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail has a new way to track inmates.

A new jail management system, which provides mug shots and detailed reports of inmates on virtual screen, was initiated April 29, at the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail.

The system cost $18,175. The previous software being used at the jail was quoted at $26,950 per year to renew. The cost savings with the new system was part of what determined the

Search reveals drugs at rural Gallatin home

Roger Dale Hess, 48, and Celeste Spangler, 53, both of Gallatin, were each charged April 30 with class C felony possession of controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of less than 35 grams of a synthetic cannabinoid, and four counts unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

4-20-16

4 pm – MSHP arrested Jacob Carmack, 23, Ashby, MA, for misdemeanor no valid driver’s license. Carmack was transferred to DDCRJ where he posted a $500 cash bond and was released.

5:27 pm – Vehicle rollover accident on Highway 69 north of Pattonsburg.  No injuries.

7:23 pm – Report of unruly person walking around in Coffey.

8:37 pm – Hamilton PD is with subject from domestic disturbance that occurred in Daviess County.

10:22 pm – Responding to residence near Daviess/Caldwell County line reference above domestic.

10:52 pm – Subject arrested for above incident and transferred to DDCRJ pending

Mystery of the vanishing man with the stolen police car appears solved

On April 11, 2016, at approximately 12:41 p.m., the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and the Daviess County Coroner responded to the area of I-35 and Granite Avenue near Pattonsburg, where a local farmer had discovered a shotgun and possible human bones in his field.

The scene was processed and numerous human bones were recovered. The remains will be forwarded to the Kansas City Crime Lab for DNA testing.

Here’s what the farmer says who found the gun, bones…

Tab Siddens, 46, Albany, had gone to his field south of Pattonsburg and east of I-35 on Monday, April 11, around the middle of the afternoon to see if the ground was dry enough to plant corn.

“I stepped out of the pickup and stepped on a gun,” he said. “I knew immediately what it meant.”

The firearm has since been confirmed stolen from the Kansas City Missouri Police Department.
