Lock Springs man charged with murder

Aaron Thomas Tucker, 25, has been charged with murder in the second degree after the death of Michael Chad Estabrook, 48, at a Lock Springs residence.

Daviess County Ambulance and Jamesport First Responders were dispatched to the residence at 300 Lock Springs Lake St., Jamesport, at 5:20 a.m. on Nov. 12 in reference to a possible cardiac arrest.

They found Estabrook without a pulse and unresponsive on the bedroom floor.

11:38 am – Cameron PD advising they have Shawn Brown, 28, West Des Moines, Iowa, on Daviess County warrant for FTA on original charges of misdemeanor DWI.  Brown was transported to the Sheriff’s Office (SO) where he took care of his bond and was released.

High Speed chase lands cyclist in custody, facing 10 counts

A northbound motorcyclist traveling in excess of 130mph on I-35 was apprehended Friday night and now faces felony and misdemeanor charges and numerous traffic violations following his arrest.

Daryl Dewayne Travis of Raytown was taken into custody and transported to the Daviess/DeKalb Regional Jail, and a warrant was issued. He faces charges of resisting arrest by fleeing, felony D, two counts of excessive speed, misdemeanor B, driving while suspended, misdemeanor,

ATF NITRO Task Force provides $28,000 in seized funds to Daviess County

On Oct. 17 the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) announced the distribution of $28,000 in funds to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

The funds were derived from assets seized or forfeited as part of criminal investigations conducted by the ATF sponsored Northwest Missouri Interagency Team Response Operation (NITRO) in which Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is a participant.

Regional Jail converts CD, new DeKalb sheriff welcomed

Administrator Ed Howard informed the Daviess-DeKalb Region Jail Board that he and Randy Sims, Daviess County Presiding Commissioner, had converted the jail’s Certificate of Deposit (CD) from one year to five years, increasing the interest earnings from .5% to 1.7%. This should represent about $300 a month in additional earnings. Mr. Howard discussed opening another CD at the end of the year for a possible building fund.
