Jail May Switch Employee Health Insurance

Cliff Roeder and Aaron Duvall with Crow Walker Insurance were present at the Feb. 28 meeting of the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail Board held Feb. 28. They provided the board with health insurance information garnered from other companies. United Healthcare came back with the best rates and Roeder and Duvall will compare those benefits with the jail’s present policy through Aetna. Sheriff’s Office Receives NITRO Funds

On Feb. 19, the Northwest Missouri Interagency Team Response Operations (NITRO) presented the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office with a check for $10,000 dollars. The money is derived from assets forfeiture seizures. “The funds are greatly appreciated and will be well utilized,” said Sheriff Ben Becerra.

Adkison Pleads Guilty in Ohio

A Missouri man — who faces charges of kidnaping and assault of a Hamilton woman from last year — pled guilty to five criminal charges in Ohio and has been sentenced to prison. A judge sentenced Brian Adkison to two years in a Correctional Institute near Cleveland. Adkison receives credit for 160 days served since his September arrest in Ohio.

Teen Charged for Pornography, Resisting Arrest

Jeramy Sanders, the Pattonsburg teen sought by law enforcement last week in connection with a missing female juvenile, has been charged with three unrelated felonies.

A statewide endangered missing person advisory had been issued for the 14-year-old. Apparently, Megan had traveled from Grundy County to Daviess County with Jeramy, 17, on Saturday, Feb. 15. They were to return to Grundy County on Sunday but didn’t return as expected.

Man Arrested After Dangerous, High Speed Chase

The Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted the Cameron Police Department in stopping the dangerous flight of a stolen pickup Saturday morning, Feb. 15, in Daviess County.

According to his probable cause statement, Sgt. M. Ott of the Missouri State Highway Patrol overheard radio traffic that Cameron Patrolman M. Neely was behind a pickup headed north on Hwy. 69 at McElwain Drive. The pickup was possibly stolen.

12:09 am – Call from Independence PD referencing text message they received from person they believe is being held against their will. Address was traced back to Daviess County near Pattonsburg. Sheriff’s Office (SO) did check of area and found nothing. Reported findings back to Independence.

Daviess County Courthouse News

Your Right to Know: The following is information released from the Daviess County Courthouse on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014.

The courthouse will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 12, and Monday, Feb. 17, in observance of Lincoln’s Birthday and the President’s Day holiday.

Daviess County Sheriff Activity Report

Mervin J. Mast, Gallatin, was charged Feb. 4 with unlawful use of a weapon, class D felony, and armed criminal action, unclassified felony. According to the probable cause report, on Feb. 2, Mast had a loaded pistol in his possession while in an intoxicated state at his residence, and pointed it at another person. Bond was set at $35,000.
