Successful Round Up for Family Literacy Night at Searcy

Memorials placed in library

A Man Called Ove is among memorial books at Daviess County Library.

Memorial donations have been placed in the Daviess County Library.  Patricia Pierce donated two large print titles to the collection in memory of her mom, Mary Ellen Murray.  They are “A Man Called Ove” and “What Alice Forgot.” The large print edition of “Reader’s Digest Magazine” is also being added to the collection through Patricia’s donation.

Grand River Choir, Orchestra holding rehearsals

The Grand River Valley Choir & Orchestra will begin rehearsals soon for the summer concert. Choir rehearsals will begin Tuesday, April 11, at 7 p.m. Orchestra rehearsals will begin one week later on Tuesday, April 18, at 6:30 p.m. Both the Choir and Orchestra will hold practices at the Hodge Presbyterian Church in Trenton.

Most of the chairs for the orchestra have been filled, but we still need string instruments

Library celebrates Autism Awareness Month, Organ Donor Month, and 4-H Day of Service in April

Saint Louis Brass at Chillicothe

The Chillicothe Area Arts Council will present the Saint Louis Brass Ensemble at Gary Dickinson Performing Arts Center at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 2.

The Gallatin School Play Murder at the Malt Shop will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 24, and at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, at the Courter Theater in Gallatin. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Family Literacy Night is planned from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, at Covel D. Searcy Elementary (CDSE) School in Gallatin. “Literacy Round-Up” is this year’s theme as preschool children through fourth grade students get to choose from many fun and educational activities.

Lasso family, grandparents and friends and invite them to join the cowpokes for an evening of education, fun and food.
