Absentee ballots for the April 7, 2015, Municipal Election are now available in the county clerk’s office. Ballots may be obtained by mail or in the office any day during regular office hours and on Saturday, April 4, from 8 a.m. to noon.

1:35 pm – MSHP transferring individual to DDRJ on 24-hour investigative hold.

11:05 am – Warrant was issued for Geoffrey Krum, 26, Austin, TX. Krum was arrested on 2-24-15. Charges filed are class C felony possession of a controlled substance (hallucinogen), and misdemeanor

Jamesport man arrested after brief pursuit

Duane Swalley, Jamesport, was charged with 10 misdemeanors  after he attempted to flee from law enforcement on Feb. 21.

According to the probable cause, Deputy Todd Watson observed Swalley entering  a camouflage 2014 Polaris at Sunset Avenue and Missouri Highway 13, south of Gallatin, at 10:53 p.m. Swalley turned north onto Highway 13 at a high rate of speed, and was swerving across the

Linda Houghton began duties as a part-time deputy clerk in the Circuit Clerk’s office on Feb. 17. Mrs. Houghton also continues in the elected position of Daviess County Public Administrator, which is also a part-time position.

Gallatin Man Sentenced to Life in Prison

Bryan Scott Carter, a Gallatin man who plead guilty last month to assault first degree, amended from statutory rape, and one count of incest in a 2013 case involving his then 4-month-old child, appeared in court Feb. 11 for sentencing.

43rd Judicial Circuit Court Judge Thomas Chapman presided during the case in Daviess County and announced a sentence of life in prison for Carter on Wednesday afternoon.

Daviess County Sheriff’s Activity Report

James D. Whitt, 19, Trenton, was arrested Feb. 5 for the June 24, 2014, burglary of the Jamesport Country Store on State Highway NN. According to the probable cause report, Whitt gained entry into the store by breaking a window and stole $600. Laboratory results from DNA evidence collected at the scene matches Whitt’s DNA. He has been charged with 2nd degree burglary, class C felony, stealing, class C felony
