County Commission

Road and bridge crews are placing rip-rap at various locations in the county per MoDOT’s recommendation from the results of the 2016 bridge inspections. They are continuing maintenance and upgrading equipment for the road and bridge items.

County Commission

James Lewis met with the commission reporting budgeting for 2016. Corrugated metal pipe is needed for placement when weather permits on Quick Avenue, Drake Avenue, 232nd Street, Key Avenue and Elmwood Avenue. Crews are actively making repairs to bridges that have been noted by MoDOT.

Bethany man pleads guilty to cemetery thefts

A Bethany man who stole $16,000 worth of bronze plates from the Bethel Cemetery near Pattonsburg was sentenced in Daviess County Circuit Court on Dec. 16.

Leslie D. Harrison, 46, of Bethany plead guilty to 35 charges, including 16 counts of theft, class C felonies; 16 counts of property damage, class B misdemeanors; possession of a controlled substance (synthetic cannabiniod), class C felony; possession of marijuana, class A misdemeanor; and

Midnight verdict concludes two-day trial

Late Dec. 11, after extended jury deliberation, a Pattonsburg man was found guilty on three out of six sexual charges involving a nine-year-old child.

Matthew K. Huff was found guilty of First Degree Child Molestation, class A felony; Incest, class D felony; and First Degree Statutory Sodomy, unclassified felony, all stemming from a January 2014 incident.
