County Commission

James Lewis, bridge supervisor, reported that they will be working on completing shelving units that were purchased for the county offices.

Linda Houghton, public administrator, filed her certificate of training from Missouri Association of Public Administrators.

Gallatin man charged with burglary of residence

Justin J. Rainey, Gallatin, was charged April 26 with burglary second degree, class C felony. According to the probable cause statement by Gallatin Police Chief Mark Richards, Rainey entered the basement of a Gallatin residence occupied by Tony Moore at 3 a.m. and proceeded up a set of stairs where he was confronted by Mr. Moore. Rainey did not have permission to enter

The Daviess County Commission placed a burn ban in effect for Daviess County at 6:34 p.m. on Saturday, April 12. The ban was withdrawn at 10:48 a.m. on Monday, April 14, after precipitation fell during the weekend.

Daviess County Sheriff Activity Report

Report of abandoned child found to be untrue

Frances A. Stagner, 32, Gallatin, was charged April 9 with filing a false report to law enforcement, a class B misdemeanor. According to the probable cause statement, Stagner made a report to the sheriff’s office on April 7 of finding a child who had been abandoned on or near State Highway M in Daviess County on April 2.

Court of Appeals, Western District to Sit at Daviess County

For only the second time in its history, the Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District, will convene court in Gallatin, Chief Judge James E. Welsh announced.

On Wednesday, April 30, 2014, a three-judge panel consisting of Joseph M. Ellis, Karen King Mitchell and Gary D. Witt will hear oral arguments in three cases in the circuit courtroom of the Daviess County Courthouse, beginning at 9:30 a.m., Welsh said.
