Pattonsburg will install new windows

Bids on eight windows to be replaced in the city hall/municipal building were opened during the meeting of the Pattonsburg Board of Aldermen held on August 15. Two bids were received. One was from Lowe’s in the amount of $4,440.85 and one was from Timber Wolf Construction in the amount of $2,577.28. The board accepted the Timber Wolf Construction bid.

Treasurer’s Office

The Daviess County Tax Sale was conducted Aug. 22 at the south door of the courthouse, with 208 properties offered for sale for delinquent taxes and costs. Of the 208 properties offered, 191 of them were Lake Viking properties. At the sale, 36 properties were sold for delinquent taxes, with 33 of those properties being Lake Viking lots. The other three properties sold were lots in Lock Springs.

County Commission

Ross Williams, brush mower, discussed brush issues around the county with the commissioners and will be starting on bridges and culverts in Colfax Township after maintenance on the brush mower.

James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, met with commissioners. The crew has installed corrugated metal pipe on Midway Avenue in Union Township. Crews will be installing a three-foot corrugated metal pipe on 235th Street in Grand River Township.

Daviess County Sheriff’s Office Incident Summary

8-2-16

10:30 am – Shannon Dice, 44, Cameron,  posted $200 cash bond at the Sheriff’s Office (SO) on a Cameron PD warrant for FTA on traffic charges. Dice was given a court date and released.

6:06 pm – Domestic disturbance in Lock Springs.

7:27 pm – Report of dog bite in Pattonsburg.

9:23 pm – Burglary report on Highway M south of Gallatin. Nothing reported to be missing.

James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, met with commissioners. The crew completed repairs to the storm damage on Major Avenue in Union Township and Yale Avenue in Harrison Township. They are open to traffic. Five more sites have been identified, and the crew will be hauling rip-rap and repairing damaged areas at various locations around the county due to the storm. The last article highlighted legislative changes to felony classifications and prison terms that will take effect January 1, 2017. This month I will focus on changes to fine provisions for felonies. Currently, criminal fines are set forth in Chapter 560 of the Revised Statutes of the State of Missouri (RSMo.)  Next year criminal fines will be set forth in Chapter 558 RSMo.

County Commission

James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, met with commissioners. The crew is completing finishing work on the bridge on 292nd Street. Corrugated metal pipe placements around the county are the next projects that crews will be working on.

David Cox moved to pay the bill from Trenton Coke for $1,142.40 for bottled water from the emergency funds. The bill was incurred due to the PWSD #1 water outage.

Absentee voting will be possible through the county clerk’s office from 8 a.m. to noon on the Saturday prior to the election, July 30, 2016.

County Commission

Karl Hazzard discussed a private road in Monroe Township. Gary Heldenbrand and Larry Belshe were visitors.

The Board of Equalization convened at 8:30 a.m. and ended at 11:10 a.m. The commission meeting reconvened following the Board of Equalization.
