James Lewis, road and bridge supervisor, and his crew continue working on the bridge on 292nd Street, weather permitting, where pile driving will be complete and the bridge deck will be set at the end of next week. The crew will be working on Bridge #208001.1 on 175th Street in Sheridan Township when time and weather permits.

The high art of tuck pointing

Dane Worrell Construction out of Daviess County has been making repairs on the courthouse roof, primarily doing some tuck pointing around the chimney. A leak had developed around the chimney on the north side. Mr. Worrell is also replacing windows in the clock tower. The work should be finished by this week, weather permitting.

Maxwell works on special project

Bailey Maxwell, 2016 GHS graduate, will be employed in the Daviess County Circuit Clerk’s office this summer. According to Circuit Clerk Pam Howard, Bailey will be working on a special state-funded project which involves scanning and archiving documents.

Bray sentenced on bank fraud

On March 9, 2016, Bill Bray, St. Joseph, was sentenced on a guilty plea to a class B felony for bank fraud in the U.S. District Court, Western District of Missouri. As a term of this plea agreement, a judgment, including order of forfeiture, was recorded in Daviess County on April 20, 2016.

Search reveals drugs at rural Gallatin home

Roger Dale Hess, 48, and Celeste Spangler, 53, both of Gallatin, were each charged April 30 with class C felony possession of controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of less than 35 grams of a synthetic cannabinoid, and four counts unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
