The Missouri House of Representatives honored Johnathan and Phillip Arnold last week as “Outstanding Missourians.” They are the sons of Linda and Mike Arnold, Gallatin. Third District Rep. Jim Whorton nominated the brothers for the award upon the recommendation of the Daviess County Commission for the successful establishment of a restored Civil War canon and Veteran’s Walk of Honor on the county’s courthouse lawn.

Alma Runnels Turns 90

Alma Runnels will celebrate her 90th birthday on May 3. She was born in Inman, South Carolina, on that date in 1925.

Alma married Vincent Runnels on April 28, 1945, and moved to Gallatin. Vincent and Alma farmed until retirement in 2005. They moved to Savannah in August 2005 to be near family.

Her children are Suzette (Harry) Johnson of Parkville, Cindy (Terry) Holt of Savannah, and Julie (Tim)

Leaders of the National High School Rodeo Association, the oldest youth rodeo organization in America, appointed Levi Alden of Gallatin to the Wrangler All-Star Rodeo Team, the first-ever corporate-sponsored youth rodeo team.

Brittney Hixson will be representing the Gallatin FBLA Chapter at the National Leadership Conference in Orlando, FL, June 24-27. Brittney was appointed to serve as President of the Missouri Parliamentary Procedures Team during the 2005

Daviess County Native Models on TV

Savannah Lee made her TV debut March 31 on KC Live, 41 Action News, modeling for Standard Style, the boutique she works at on The Plaza in Kansas City. Savannah is the daughter of Toni and David Cox of Jamesport. Savannah modeled Easter and Spring styles, wearing a white tank, white blazer and silk, floral pants.
