Coffey man charged with animal abuse, neglect

Samuel N. Lewis, 50, of Coffey was arrested July 14 on nine misdemeanor charges of animal abuse and animal neglect or abandonment.

On July 11, Deputy Tyler Miller responded to Lewis’s residence in Coffey, where he found two small dogs in a small wire kennel outside of the residence, directly in the sunlight, with no food or water. A larger dog was running free, but no water or food was
