Farmers kick up some dust…weather ideal for planting


Missouri farmers learned from last year’s planting season.

Weather last week provided ideal planting conditions for corn and rice, according to the USDA Crop Progress and Condition Report for Missouri. Temperatures averaged 56.2 degrees, 1.3 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.65 inches statewide, 0.34 inches below normal. In the Northwest Region, there were 6.7 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending April 17. Corn planting was 49% complete.
