Cliff Roeder and Aaron Duvall with Crow Walker Insurance were present at the Feb. 28 meeting of the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail Board held Feb. 28. They provided the board with health insurance information garnered from other companies. United Healthcare came back with the best rates and Roeder and Duvall will compare those benefits with the jail’s present policy through Aetna. The board agreed to accept the United Healthcare plan if all went well with the comparison.
Ed Howard gave the financial report. Sales tax income for February was $63,138.58; Commissary grossed $20,459.44; CD Account balance is $758,072.14; Sales Tax Account balance is $101,518.75; Operating Account balance is $1996.82; Payroll Account balance is $79.47. For the first month of 2014 Daviess County would have had to pay $18,080 for inmate housing and DeKalb County would have had to pay $38,360.
Inmate count was 133.
The board entered into closed session for personnel reasons.
Discussion was held on moving the guard shack to the south, but still within the fence.
