‘Operation Hugs from Home’ Features Over 45 Quilts

 

 

Gallatin LDS church members finished over 45 quilts and shipped them to the troops in Afghanistan this fall. A reception to display the quilts for “Operation Hugs From Home” was held Nov. 9 at the church. People were invited to write notes to the service men and women to include in the boxes. Dennis Pike d. November 22, 2013

Celebration of Life for Dennis Pike will be held Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Helena. Inurnment: at a later date in Helena Cemetery. Mr. Pike has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.

Five Up for Election on North Daviess Board

Regardless of the outcome of the school board election next April it will mean a big overhaul for North Daviess. Superintendent Becky Morris said five seats are up for election on the seven-member board.

Three board members are up for three-year terms: Jason Lewis, Amanda Wynne and Natalie Mae.

Two board members up for two unexpired one-year terms: Stacey Rhoades and Paul Caven.

Robert McClelland 1925-2013

A memorial service for Robert McClelland was held Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, with arrangements by Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield. Military honors followed the service. Private family burial will be held at a later date in Winston.

Robert Shannon McClelland, Jr. died Nov. 1, 2013, in Springfield.

Bob was born March 16, 1925, in Columbia, to Mildred and Robert S. McClelland, Sr., who both preceded him in death.

Filing Dates Set at Pattonsburg R-2

Five Injured in Accident Near Pattonsburg

Five people received minor injuries in an accident that happened at about 10:25 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, in Daviess County.

According to a report by the highway patrol, a 1995 Mercury Mystique driven by Lori Neely, 40, of Plattsburg, and a 2014 Ford Focus driven by Karmen Bell, 20, of Eagleville, were both southbound on I-35.

About two miles south of Pattonsburg, Ms. Neely lost control of her vehicle
