11-19-13

12:01 am – MSHP transporting person to DDCRJ on two active warrants. Stephen J Croley, 25, Trenton, was taken into custody on a Grundy Co. warrant for FTA on property damage charge. Bond set at $1,000. Croley was also wanted in Johnson Co. for domestic assault. Bond set at $2,500. Croley will remain at DDCRJ pending transfer.

9:40 am – Complaint of neighboring livestock in hayfield near Pattonsburg.

County Commission

These are the unapproved minutes of Nov. 25, 2013. Randy Sims, presiding commissioner, called the meeting to order. David Cox, first district commissioner was in attendance. Carl Carder, second district commissioner, was absent. Minutes were approved.

James Lewis met with commissioners about replacing boards on bridge in Jackson Township.

Dustman Advances to State Competition

 

 

Brooke Dustman, a freshman at North Daviess High School, won the Fall District Speaking Contest and has moved onto the State Speaking Contest. Brooke competed in the contest at districts on Nov. 13 at Cameron. She will compete at the state contest in Tan-Tar-A in January. [Submitted Photo]

Winston Physics Students Need Funds to Launch Learning

A newly formed Rocket Club is hoping to take off at the Winston R-6 school.

“Our students are entering a national rocket challenge to put two large hen eggs over 800 feet into the air and then bring them back safely,” said Mr. Harding.

Mr. Harding and physics student Clint Alexander presented information about the project to the school’s board of education at their meeting held Nov. 18.

Larry Don Olsen 1953-2013

Visitation for Larry Olsen was held on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at the Polley Funeral Home in Lawson. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Children’s Mercy Hospital.

Raymond Rounds 1939-2013

Memorial service and military honors for Raymond Rounds were held Nov. 22 at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kan. Arrangements were by Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron.

Raymond George Rounds, 74, Altamont, died Nov. 18, 2013.

Raymond was born Aug. 21, 1939, in Denver, Colo.

Survivors include four sons, Raymond (Chersten) Rounds, Matthew (Jennifer) Rounds, Maysville, Brian Rounds, Las Vegas, Nev., and Robert Rounds, Altamont; one daughter, Heather (Terry) Wood, Springfield.
