Sitting Pretty — Courthouse Benches Get Makeover

Armed with brushes and brooms, saws and sledgehammers, a group of 38 local Boy Scouts picked a scorching September 7 day to gather with scout leaders, friends and family on the grounds of the Daviess County Courthouse to give the benches a fresh new look. Missouri Opens SEC Play at Vanderbilt

It’s finally here. Missouri (4-0) is the only team in the Southeastern Conference that hasn’t played a conference game yet, but on Saturday they take the plunge at Vanderbilt, playing their eight conference games over the next nine Saturdays.

The Tigers have built some momentum and cautious fan optimism while opening the season with four wins against a very manageable non-conference schedule.

McClellan Sisters Sing October 5

The McLellan sisters will sing at the Lake Viking Church at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5. This is the third appearance for the energetic and dynamic group of four sisters. Tiffany McClellan, the leader of the group, is also an excellent piano and harmonica player in addition to being an excellent singer and song-writer of gospel and inspirational music. Admission to the event is free.

Zoey Corinne Weldon b. September 9, 2013

 

Zoey Corinne Weldon was born at 8:07 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 9. She weighed 9 pounds, 12 ounces, and was 20 inches long. Her parents are Andy and Amy Weldon of Warrensburg. Zoey was welcomed home by her sister Sophia, 2.

South Harrison Comes on Strong in Second Half to Win

Bulldog defenders wrap up South Harrison’s J. D. Johnson in first quarter action during Friday’s Homecoming game at GHS.

A strong second half, both offensively and defensively, turned the tide for South Harrison last Friday night during Gallatin’s Homecoming week. The purple and gold Bulldogs scored 24 unanswered points to erase a two-point half time deficit and claim a 44-24 win in Grand River Conference action.
