Garnett Earns PGA Tour Card for 2014

Brice Garnett’s hard work on the Web.com golf tour has paid off, big time, with the realization of a long-sought-after goal.

Garnett, who currently stands 14th on the tour’s money list for 2013, officially learned last weekend that he has earned his PGA Tour card for the 2014 season.

Friday’s Golf Moved to Excelsior Springs

Golf season opens Wednesday for Gallatin’s Lady Bulldogs when they travel to Stanberry, but there’s already been a slight change in Gallatin’s fall golf schedule.

Due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict, Friday’s Orrick Tournament has been moved from Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond to the Excelsior Springs Golf Course. The tournament will still begin at 8 a.m.

Electricity Rate Will Increase, Hot Mix on Park Street

Gallatin city minutes

Gallatin electric users will see a wholesale rate adjustment of one cent per kilowatt on September’s utility bills after Gallatin’s Board of Aldermen decided on the increase at their meeting held Monday, Aug. 26.

City Administrator Zac Johnson stated that Park Street will be re-surfaced with hot mix this September using the transportation tax fund. He added that city crews have been working on numerous main breaks

Wiederholt Gets 70 Years for Child Porn

Tammy Dickinson, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Stanberry man who produced child pornography and possessed more than a thousand images of child porn was sentenced in federal court recently. Jeffrey Dale Wiederholt, 35, of Stanberry, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Gary A. Fenner to 70 years in federal prison without parole.
