Man Deemed Incompetent for Murder Trial

KIRKSVILLE, MO — Paul R. Potter, 49, of Kirksville, has been ruled incompetent to stand trial for first-degree charges of murder and other acts after psychiatric evaluation at Fulton State Hospital. In April Potter plead “not guilty” to the January stabbing and dismemberment of 74-year-old Willis Meredith, after which fire was set for concealment of the crime. Potter’s status will be reviewed after six months’ time.
