Franks Remembers Shucking Corn By Hand

This picture is of Charles Lawrence Franks and his huge ears of white corn grown in the Honey Creek bottoms. The corn was raised on 30 acres of a 130-acre farm located south of Gallatin (near the present Dick Worrell farm.)

“Talk about walking in tall cotton,” said Sidney Franks, one of Charles and Vernice Franks’ nine children.

The picture was taken in the mid-1950s when Charles was probably around
