King Accused of Murdering Cellmate

ST. New Hampton Clerk Charged with Stealing

NEW HAMPTON, MO – A former New Hampton city clerk has been arrested on a charge of stealing funds from the city’s accounts. Christan L. Patterson, who resides in West Des Moines, Iowa, faces a charge of Class C felony stealing. Patterson had been living in Albany while working as the New Hampton city clerk. Cameron School Sets Budget, Includes Track Repair

CAMERON, MO — The Cameron Board of Education approved a budget for the 2013-14 school year that anticipates an ending balance of $3,697. The budget calls for $17,569,524 in expenditures with anticipated revenue at $17,573,221. The budget includes about $40,000 for land purchases and a $200,000 to resurface the 10-year-old track surface at Dave Goodwin Field. About half of the track cost will be used to address a drainage problem

CMC Shutdown at Nodaway County

MARYVILLE, MO — Nodaway County Collector Treasurer Marilyn Jenkins was notified by CMC site manager recently, after the facility had defaulted on two months of the tax payment plan, that the plant had shut down. On June 13, Mike Phillips, CMC plant manager, explained to the county official that all the employees had been placed on furlough for two weeks. The plant, located on Leigh Wilson Industrial Road, remains closed.

Jamesport Ag Teacher Nominated for Mentor Award

JAMESPORT, MO — Jamesport Agriculture Instructor Amy Holder has been nominated as the 2013 NAAE Teacher Mentor. Mrs. Holder has served this past year as mentor to new agriculture instructor, Katie Martin, who teaches in the Winston School District. Mrs. Holder will be recognized at the Summer Missouri Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association conference held in July in Springfield. If Mrs. Holder is selected as the Regional winner she will attend

NCMC Golf Tourney to benefit Foundation

The Second Annual North Central Missouri College Foundation Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, Aug. 30, at the Riverside Country Club in Trenton.

Teresa Cross, NCMC Director of Development, commented, “The members of the Golf Planning Committee felt that Friday of the Labor Day weekend would be an ideal time to hold this event.”

All proceeds from the benefit will support the Foundation’s Knowledge Scholarship Fund at NCMC.

Gates Family Donates Three Scholarship Funds

The Gates family from Daviess and Harrison County has graciously donated money to award three annual scholarships. Each scholarship is for $250 and will be awarded on behalf of the Gates family (Daniel G. Gates, Effie W. Gates, and George O. Gates).

The eligible applicants are to be 16-years-old or younger. The applicant is to reside in Daviess, Harrison, Mercer, Grundy, Gentry or Worth counties. The other eligibility requirement is
