Pattonsburg city minutes
After many complaints from residents about the sewer rate increase, the Pattonsburg Board of Aldermen reviewed the numbers and after lengthy discussion at their meeting on April 10, decided to lower the rate for now. However, the sewer rates will still be based on water usage at a rate of 50% of water usage. The sewer rates will be re-examined in six months to make sure that the city is not losing money.
To review, the Pattonsburg sewer rates had been a flat rate of $12. Then the rates went to being based on water usage as follows: 0-1000 gal $12; 1000-2000 $9; 2000-3000 $7.20; 3000-4000 $6. Currently it is based on water usage at 50% of water usage cost per month.
Election results were accepted and City Clerk Karen Shepherd swore in Mayor Gene Walker, Eastward Alderman Lonnie Luke, and Westward Alderman Sandra Woodring. Karen Shepherd was sworn in as secretary by the mayor.
Ronald “Flap” Gardner asked about using the lot south of his house for a garden spot. The board agreed to sell the lot to him at 10 cents a square foot.
Bills submitted by Robert Bozarth concerning the lease purchase agreement between the city and Mr. Bozarth were deemed invalid by the city attorney.
Board members present were Lonnie Luke, Kendra Comer, and Sandra Woodring. Robert Sweiger was absent. Also present were city employees Karen Shepherd and Jason Mercer; and guest Jim Bussard.
