Oldest house in county (1833) being restored

GRUNDY COUNTY, MO — Visitors to the Thompson House got the chance to view improvements made to the structure during an open house at the site held on Oct. 20, 2012. The Thompson House is the oldest standing house in Grundy County, built in 1833. The Friends of the Thompson House organization has been working to restore the home, built by one of the county’s first settlers, Dr. William H.

The Haun’s Mill Massacre remembered 174 years later

If you should decide to visit Haun’s Mill in Caldwell County, go because you like to get out and drive around. The site itself is not much to see when you get there. It is a stone marker with an inscribed plaque situated in a pretty grove of trees beside a narrow leaf-choked creek.

Go for the history. This site marks a place of violence and tragedy and is sacred

Margaret Waterbury 1920-2012

Funeral services for Margaret Waterbury were held October 28 at the Roberson Funeral Home, Jamesport. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery, Jamesport. Fina Kinne 1934-2012

Funeral services for Fina Kinne were held on Friday, Oct. 26, at Hamilton Federated Church. Interment was at Highland Cemetery, Hamilton. Memorials may be made to the Hamilton Federated Church. Arrangements were by Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton.

Fina Kinne, Jr., 78, Hamilton, died on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Heartland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.
