TARKIO, MO — The Mule Barn Theatre Guild has announced plans to open a place to house Tarkio’s history on Oct. 1, 2012, in the lower level of the Tarkio Resource Center. The Cultural Resource Center’s purpose is to safeguard, gather and preserve the history of Tarkio, including but not limited to history, genealogy, and cultural heritage information, educational displays, and related programs. The center will offer the contractual services of an archivist, Cathy Palmer, and her team, to archive, catalog, scan and digitize data. Private research services will also be offered. A program on David Rankin (a prominent rancher and farmer) is planned for a luncheon presentation on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012. Presentations on World War II to correspond with the annual local American Legion turkey dinner is planned for Nov. 10, and a Christmas event to correspond with a Tarkio Chamber of Commerce celebration is planned for Dec. 15.
