Construction continues on Pattonsburg Well #7

Layne Company received a motion from the Pattonsburg Board of Aldermen to continue with the construction of the city’s new Well #7 at the proposed cost of $107,739 during the regular meeting of the board held June 13.

In other business at earlier meetings regarding the construction of the well, Micro-Comm presented a proposal for upgrades to existing equipment and radio communications for the well in the amount of $38,120.

It’s showtime — Daviess County Junior Livestock Show opens July 5

The annual Daviess County Jr. Livestock Show will be held this year on July 5, 6 and 7 at the fair grounds located inside Dockery Park.

The Daviess County Jr. Livestock Show will open the morning of July 5 with the Sheep Show at 10 a.m. This is a change from years past. There will be a Pee Wee Show immediately following the Lead Line Show at approximately 10:30 a.m.

Winston adopts deficit budget; hires several

The Winston R-6 Board of Education adopted the budget for 2012-2013 at its meeting held Tuesday, June 19. The budget projects deficit spending of $211,503. About $160,000 of the deficit is due to the roofing project scheduled to take place later this summer. The remainder of the deficit is due to reductions in state and federal funding to the school district.

Pattonsburg increases base pay, approves budget

The Pattonsburg R-2 Board of Education allowed steps for next year with a $500 increase to the base, making the base $27,000 during their regular meeting held Wednesday, June 20. This will come out to be a 2.55% increase for non-certified employees and administration.

The extra duty schedule was approved with the new increase in pay.

Brice Garnett withstood Sunday’s 100-degree heat in Wichita to finish in a four-way tie for fourth place in the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open.

July fourth is quickly approaching and several local fireworks stands have opened. Gallatin Police Chief Mark Richards would like to take this opportunity to wish the citizens of Gallatin a safe and happy fourth of July and to point out the ordinances for shooting fireworks within the city.

Section 210.720 of the Gallatin City Code prohibits fireworks to be fired within the city except between the hours of 8 a.m.

The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced Route CC in Daviess County has been scheduled to close for a culvert replacement Thursday, June 28 (weather permitting).

MoDOT crews will be closing Route CC between Quick Avenue and Quartz Avenue at 7 a.m. that morning. All work should be completed by noon the same day.
