North Daviess School District recently announced its fourth quarter and second semester honor rolls with the following students named:

Gallatin Livestock Auction claimants will come up $165,000 short

The distribution of funds to claimants against Gallatin Livestock Auction will be addressed at an administrative hearing set for 10 a.m. June 25 in the third floor courtroom of the Daviess County courthouse in Gallatin. Claimants were notified of the hearing by the Missouri Department of Agriculture in a letter dated May 22.

‘Drive for Gold’ golf tournament to benefit Special Olympics

The second annual "Drive for Gold" golf tournament for Special Olympics, presented by the Daviess County Sheriff’s office, is set for Saturday, June 9. A shotgun start is scheduled at 9 a.m. at the Daviess County Country Club in Gallatin. Registration is at 8 a.m.

Early registration is available for a reduced team entry fee of $90 if received by June 1, 2012. Registration on the day of the tournament

GHS football slate announced for 2012

Gallatin R-5 Athletic Director Rick Lin this week released the 2012 Bulldog football schedule that highlight’s the new playoff format for Missouri high school football.

Gallatin will host a jamboree on Aug. 17 beginning at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs open the regular season in Dearborn against the North Platte Panthers on Aug. 24, and follow up with their home opener against rival Hamilton, now a member of the KCI Conference.

Spring sports athletes honored at Gallatin R-5

Coaches, parents and athletes gathered at Gallatin High School on May 16 for the spring sports banquet. R-5 athletic director Rick Lin served as master of ceremonies.

Boys golf coach Barron Gann introduced his players, Derrik Baldwin, Zane Snow, Peter Steele, Tyler Carder, Grant Simmons and Chris Cameron. Steele was named most improved player on the squad.

NCMC announces dates for youth baseball camps

North Central Missouri College in Trenton has set two summer baseball camps for June 25-27 for area youth to receive instruction from experienced NCMC baseball coaches and players.

The camps will be held at Burleigh Grimes Field in Trenton and will provide players with valuable baseball lessons in areas specific to hitting, base running, pitching, fielding and defensive play.

Activities on Monday, June 25, are designed for youth ages seven

Ceremony honors fallen soldiers, surviving veterans

A large crowd of area citizens showed their support and appreciation of our veterans during a service held Memorial Day at Brown Cemetery.
