Kids’ Cooking Class offered in June

The Daviess County Health Department is offering a free cooking class for fourth, fifth and sixth graders in June. There are two class times to choose from: 10-11:30 a.m. and 1-2:30 p.m. Classes will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday for two weeks (June 18, 20, 22 and 25, 27, 29).

Each class is limited to 10 children, so call 660-663-2414 to sign your child up. All supplies and instructional materials

Pattonsburg R-2 cuts costs by $105,000

Superintendent Johnnie Silkett reported during the regular meeting of the Pattonsburg R-2 Board of Education held May 21 that about $105,000 in cost-cutting measures have been enacted in next year’s budget. The savings to the school came by not replacing two staff members, one that retired and one that left the district, along with changing the school’s insurance.

 The school will most likely increase local monies by $18,000 next year

Gallatin man hurt after vehicle strikes bridge

Bradley Leatherman, 29, Gallatin, was moderately injured in an accident that happened at about 12:30 a.m. on Monday, May 28, in Livingston County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Leatherman was eastbound on Route H five miles east of Avalon. An animal ran out in front of him. He closed his eyes and struck the end of a concrete bridge. His 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix came to rest in

Edwards seriously injured in ATV accident

Lacey Edwards, 22, Hamilton, was seriously injured in an accident that happened at about 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 27, in Mercer County about eight miles west of Princeton.

Gallatin Rotary Club collects shoes for orphans

The Gallatin Rotary Club donated its collection of 80 pairs of new shoes for Buckner International’s Shoes for Orphan Souls during the three-day Rotary District 6040 "Shoes Caravan" conducted from May 17-19.
