County officeholders approve 1.5% salary increase effective 2013

The Daviess County Salary Commission convened Tuesday to determine salaries for those county officeholders who will be elected in 2012. After an hour and a half of discussion, the salary commission approved a motion which essentially raises the pay of those offices by 1.5%. Local VFW post receives 100% membership for third year

Richard L. Eubank, commander-in-chief, recently congratulated local VFW Commander Ray Clevenger on having achieved the distinct honor of leading his Post to over 100% in membership for the 2011-2012 year.

This was the third year in a row the Post has achieved the honor.

The District is composed of 13 posts. The local chapter, VFW Post 2172, has 74 members. Between 20-25 are active members.

Tanner Teel Missouri State Fair champion

Tanner Teel, 11-year-old son of Brian and Jamee Teel of Pattonsburg, competed in the Missouri State Fair truck and tractor pull held Aug. 14-15 in Sedalia.

Tanner, who began pulling his IH 1066 at the beginning of this season, pulled in the 10,200 pound super field class at the fair. Sunday was the qualifying round held in Dodge Arena for the opportunity to pull in front of the grandstand on

Brandon Ray passes CPA test

Brandon Ray, a 2005 graduate of Pattonsburg High School, was notified recently that he has passed his Certified Public Accountant test. Brandon is employed as an accountant in Arora, Ill., at Home Run Inn.

Home Run Inn sells frozen pizzas in 20 states and also furnishes pizzas to the White Sox and Cubs baseball teams.

Lindsey Lambert, a member of the Pattonsburg FFA Chapter, received the American FFA Degree during the 84th National FFA Convention, held on Oct. 22 in Indianapolis, Ind.
