September is time to plant cover crops

After a particularly difficult summer, many home vegetable gardeners are ready to hang up the hose and put the bed to rest. But by clearing the garden now, you can help make next year’s garden more productive by establishing a winter cover crop, says a University of Missouri Extension horticulturist.
