A.G. Martin 1926-2011

A.G. Martin, 85, of Jamesport passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at his son’s home in Jamesport. Services were held at 2 pm Saturday, May 21 at the Jamesport Baptist Church. Burial was in the Pilot Grove #2 Cemetery, Jamesport. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pilot Grove #2 Cemetery or Hedrick Hospice in care of McWilliams Funeral Home.

Alice Bell and Zemilena Markham attended the graduation of Justin Harrison at Rosendale last week. Justin is the grandson of Frank and Bonnie Shipers.

Mildred Huff, Mary Frazier and Roy Lee Hancock attended the funeral services for their nephew Robert Montgomery Monday at New Hope Church in St. Joseph. Burial was at Clarksdale.

Scholarship planned for Pattonsburg coach

Plans to establish a scholarship in honor of longtime coach Don Sturgis have been announced by the North Central Missouri College Foundation, Inc.

Sturgis, a native of Pattonsburg, graduated from Pattonsburg High School in 1944 and, after serving his country in the Navy during the end of WWII, he earned an associate of arts degree from Trenton Junior College in 1949. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of

Horton is new alderman, Walker is mayor

Judy Horton was appointed as eastward aldermen during the meeting of the Pattonsburg city council held May 11.

A city ordinance to determine the mayor of Pattonsburg in the event of a tie proved invalid, so the Pattonsburg Board of Aldermen agreed to draw lots to determine the mayor. The allocation was made that Alex Sperry — the candidate who tied for the position with Gene Walker at the earlier

Private family services and inurnment for Joyce Nichols will be held at a later date at Logsdon Cemetery, Bethany. Joyce has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany.

She was born July 19, 1940 in Martinsville, Mo, the daughter of Carroll and Fern (Allen) McCampbell.
