Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri offered a grant writing seminar

A Grant Writing Seminar was held recently to help nonprofit organizations learn the fundamentals of grant writing to aid them in seeking new funding sources to be used for carrying out their mission.

Farm Service Agency’s DCP and ACRE signup ends June 1

Kirby Payne, executive director of the Daviess County USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) reminds producers that June 1, is the deadline for the 2011 Average Crop Revenue Election (ACRE) Program or the traditional Direct and Counter-cyclical Program (DCP).

Annual contracts are required to be signed to receive program benefits. This is a mandatory deadline for all participants.

Vernie Eugene Christensen 1927 – 2011

Vernie Eugene Christensen, 84, Hamilton, Mo., passed away on April 24, 2011, at his home in Hamilton. He had retired from General Motors in 1986 where he worked in the paint department, and had been a forklift operator. He had also previously worked for Standard Oil in Kansas City, Mo.

Florene Green 1916-2011

Funeral services for Florene Green were held Monday, April 25, 2011, at the Osborn United Methodist Church. Arrangements were by Poland Thompson Funeral Home. Burial was in Osborn Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial Fund: American Cancer Society.

Florene Green, 95, Osborn, died April, 22, 2011.

Florene was born on April 11, 1916, in Kidder, to Irving and Gracie Zella (Grove) Stewart.

Virginia Pankau 1948-2011

Funeral services for Virginia Pankau were held Friday, April 22, at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment was at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Virginia L. "Jenny" Pankau, 62, St. Joseph, died Monday, April 18, 2011, at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 30, 1948, to Herbert and Lonneta (Wilcoxson) DeFord in St. Joseph.

Virginia married Raymond J. Pankau and was a homemaker.

Benefit features meal, gospel music, Elvis

Caldwell County Cancer Foundation will hold a benefit at 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, at the Polo Community Building, south Highway 13.

A barbeque beef/ham meal will be followed by Old Tyme Country Gospel Band with a special appearance by Elvis. Free will offerings will be accepted.

Fifteen people have been helped through the Caldwell County Cancer Foundation between January and April of this year. Come, enjoy and support

Kiley Leann Curtis April 21, 2011

Chelsea Herren and Kyle Curtis of Gallatin proudly announce the birth of a daughter, Kiley Leann Curtis, at 2:16 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2011, at Cameron Regional Medical Center.

Kiley weighed 5 pounds, 15 ounces, and was 19 inches long.

Klint and Kelly Kloepping of Greenville, N.C., are happy to announce the birth of their first child, Owen William Kloepping.
