Reading pays off, this piglet gets a double kiss

The Pattonsburg sixth grade class won a reading contest, reading 157 minutes per student over a five-day challenge. Ms. Flood, the sixth grade teacher, then kissed a pig in front of the entire elementary.

Allan Maddox retires after 32 years of service at MoDOT

Charles "Allan" Maddox, a 32-year employee of the Missouri Department of Transportation will retire on Jan. 1, 2011.

Allan will retire as the maintenance supervisor at the Gallatin maintenance facility. Allan started working for the department in 1979, and worked in maintenance in the Daviess County area out of the Gallatin building throughout his career.

Allan and his wife Cathy live near Gallatin. They have three daughters and five grandchildren.

MoDOT’s Bill Estes retires after 25 years of service

Eben "Bill Estes, a 25-year employee of the Missouri Department of Transportation, will retire on Jan. 1, 2011.

Bill will retire as a maintenance crew leader at the Gallatin maintenance facility. Bill started working for MoDOT in 1985 in maintenance at Gallatin. He worked in maintenance in the Daviess County area throughout his career. Bill lives in Gallatin and has two daughters and six grandchildren.
